This is sharpest tip angle and is recommended for plastics only.

Marking softer aluminium this tip should stay sharp indefinitely, maybe on 7000 series you might expect some wear after a year of consistent marking. On steels ~60HRC with consistant daily use expect a year of use. Tip life depends the hardness of material you are marking, how hard you are marking (force setting) and the frequency of use.
